Frequently asked questions / FAQ
Are files uploaded to a server?
No. PDF, image and document processing runs in your browser. This version has no file-upload API. Leaving or reloading the page clears the working files; downloaded results stay in the location you choose.
Can I use it on a phone?
Yes. The hamburger at the top left opens all tools. Choose a tool and use the large button to select a file. The signature area accepts touch input. Limits are 50 MB per file, 100 MB total and 5 MB for text files. Smaller batches are recommended on memory-limited devices.
Does merging preserve every page?
Pages are merged in list order, which you can change with the up and down buttons. If any PDF cannot be read, the whole merge stops instead of producing a file with missing pages. PDFs with permission restrictions but no opening password are handled by the local compatibility reader. Unlock password-protected files first. Rewriting may not preserve bookmarks, attachments or interactive forms; use the original software for documents with certificate signatures.
Why can a PDF have restrictions without an opening password?
Some PDFs restrict printing or editing but open without a password. PDF tools validate files and use the local compatibility reader when needed. Documents requiring an opening password show a clear message; use Decrypt PDF with the correct password first. Damaged files and unsupported protection types are reported separately.
How do the compression modes differ?
Preserve text and links reorganizes PDF objects; the size reduction depends on the source. Compress scanned images rasterizes entire pages and is suitable for scans. Text selection, search, forms, links and existing certificate signatures cannot be preserved in raster mode. If the result is not smaller, the original is provided.
What can editing and signing do?
You can replace recognizable existing text blocks or add text, adjust size and color, and preview the actual output. New text embeds a Traditional Chinese font, which may change its appearance and increase file size. Full-document reflow, scans, outlined text and text inside complex objects are not supported for direct editing. OCR is not included. Handwriting is a visual signature, not a verified certificate signature. The editor is not a complete confidential-data sanitization tool.
How do PDF encryption and decryption work?
Encrypt PDF sets an AES-256 opening password; enter it twice to confirm. Decrypt PDF requires the correct opening or owner password and does not crack passwords. If the document has permission restrictions but no opening password, try leaving the password blank. Passwords are used only for the current browser operation and are never stored or uploaded.
Can Word, Excel and PowerPoint convert to and from PDF?
DOCX, XLSX and PPTX are supported in both directions. Office files are laid out in the browser and exported as page images with an extractable text layer. Complex objects, unusual fonts, charts and print settings may differ. Excel uses cached formula results without recalculating them. Save legacy DOC, XLS and PPT files in a modern format first. Output is limited to 200 pages per conversion; check the result.
Does converting PDF back to Office restore the original?
PDF usually lacks the original paragraphs, formulas and slide objects. For Word and PowerPoint, choose editable text reconstruction or image-based page appearance. Editable mode does not fully restore pictures or complex layouts; image mode does not allow word-by-word editing. Excel infers rows and columns from text positions, with one sheet per PDF page. Original formulas, chart data and workbook structure cannot be restored. Scans have no extractable text; OCR is not included.
Where are the image and document converters?
The top bar has direct buttons for PDF compression, splitting and merging. All PDF tools lists PDF operations and document converters. All image tools lists independent HEIC, JPG, PNG and WebP converters and image-to-PDF tools. Each source/output pair has its own tool. TXT, Markdown, HTML, CSV and JSON to PDF extract and reflow text. HTML does not load external images or execute scripts.
Which image conversions are supported?
All image tools includes HEIC to JPG, HEIC to PNG, other image conversions and images to PDF, with separate tools and batch processing. HEIC uses the first decodable static image; some HDR, burst and unusual encodings may not work. Re-encoding can change colors and transparency, removes photo metadata and may downsample large images.
How do I download PDF pages as images or text?
For PDF to JPG or PNG, choose pages: one page downloads as an image and multiple pages as a ZIP. PDF to TXT extracts existing text without OCR. PDFs with restrictions but no opening password can be tried directly. Use Decrypt PDF first if an opening password is required.
What are the CSV and JSON limits?
Text files use UTF-8. The first CSV row must contain unique, nonempty field names; quoted commas and embedded line breaks are supported. JSON to CSV accepts an array of objects and combines all fields. Formula-looking strings receive an apostrophe prefix for safer spreadsheet import.
Do I need an account?
No account is required. Choose a tool and select files from your device. Processing runs in your browser, and results download to the location you choose. The website does not back up your source files or results.
