PDF to Excel

Extract readable PDF tables to XLSX; formulas are not restored.

What can PDF to Excel do?

Reconstruct Excel XLSX cells from PDF text positions, with one worksheet for each selected page.

How to use

  1. Click “Choose files” to add PDF files, or drag them to the upload area.
  2. Choose the pages to convert and the available output options.
  3. Click “Start processing”, then download the result.
Example

Extract a table from a text-based report, then check headers, numbers and decimal points in XLSX before further work.

Before you start

Check the inferred rows and columns. PDF does not contain the original formulas, workbook structure or recoverable chart data. Scanned documents require OCR, which is not included.

Limit: 50 MB per file, 5 MB for text files and 100 MB in total. Available device memory may impose smaller limits. Files are not uploaded to a conversion server.

Tool FAQ

Does PDF to Excel export XLS or XLSX?

This tool exports XLSX, not legacy XLS files. If you searched for PDF XLS, check that your spreadsheet software can open XLSX before converting.

Will Excel formulas be recovered?

No. PDFs normally store displayed text and positions rather than original cells or formulas. Rows and columns are inferred, so check numbers, merged content and page boundaries.

Can scanned PDFs become editable spreadsheets?

OCR is not included, so image-only scans cannot be recognized as cell text. Use a PDF containing selectable text, or process the scan with another OCR tool first.

Can I convert PDF to Excel and recover the original formulas?

No. Rows and columns are reconstructed from existing PDF text, not original spreadsheet formulas. Check headers, numbers and alignment; image-only scans need OCR elsewhere.
